This file details the post-install actions required to correct the installation of Slackware 7.1 on a HP Omnibook 4000CT notebook.
NOTEBOOK INFORMATION:
HP Omnibook 4000CT
- 486DX4 100 MHz
- Memory: 32 MB RAM
- 1160 MB IDE harddisk
- Megahertz EM1144 10BaseT - 14.4 Modem PCMCIA card
- The notebook has no cd-rom, so the installation source was a DOS partition.
- Free space to create 350MB partition
- Connect a Syquest SparQ parallel port drive and boot the machine using a Syquest emergency recovery floppy disk.
- Copy the \Slakware tree to the hard-disk partition.
- Select packages desired and follow the installation program instructions.
- The installation should complete normally.
- XF86
- Run xf86config to generate an initial XF86Config file
- Copy and paste "clocks" information for the WD90c24 chipset from
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/doc/README.WstDig
- Use one of the "Option" lines for RAM speed from the above file
- Pcmia
- Read /usr/doc/pcmcia-cs-3.1.16/PCMCIA-HOWTO
- Exclude ports 0x300-0x3ff in /etc/pcmcia/config.opts
- Sound
- Enable kerneld and load sb module in /etc/rc.d/rc.modules
- Add sound module configuration to /etc/modules.conf
